This week, Year 3 and 4 enjoyed an unforgettable experience as they took part in a History off the Page Roman Day! This immersive workshop brought our learning about Roman Britain vividly to life, with a particular focus on the dramatic events of Boudicca’s revolt.
Throughout the day, the children were fully immersed in Roman life. Some took on the role of Roman soldiers, marching in formation, while others acted as curious civilians, asking tradespeople about the different aspects of daily Roman living. The hands-on activities were a highlight, with each child creating and taking home a bag full of Roman-inspired items, including a wax tablet, a mosaic, a beautifully engraved copper necklace, perfume, and more!
In the afternoon, the hall transformed into a Roman banquet hall, where pupils played different roles to help run a celebratory feast after conquering Boudicca and the Iceni tribe. From preparing food to providing entertainment, everyone contributed to a lively and authentic Roman celebration.
It was a day full of fun, creativity, and meaningful learning — one that the children (and staff!) won’t forget in a hurry. Thank you to those parents who supported our activities.
